Welcome to 2025! Yes, it has been a few weeks since you heard from me. I needed to take a couple of weeks of downtime in order to regroup from construction, losing a dog, and lots of company.
What's Happening
Our youngest son is home from Germany for three weeks. We are having so much fun just having him home. There has been a lot of laughter, discussions, and visiting family. He is leaving in another week and we won't likely see him until next summer; however, we see him almost daily on Facetime.
He had a long list of restaurants that he wanted to eat at while home. We are slowly making our way through the list. The funny thing is that the list only had a couple of American restaurants on it, like Portillo's. This past week we took him to the best Turkish restaurant which is called A Thousand Tales! He also needed to hit a local tavern with his brother on Christmas eve, lol.
His birthday is this upcoming week and we are excited to be able to celebrate in person. The night of his birthday we are going to a Mexican restaurant. He can't get Mexican in Germany. Then a few days later we are headed downtown to a Lebanese restaurant. More on that next week.
He gave hubby a German "lego" version of the iconic t.v. tower in Berlin. Hubby LOVES to work on lego sets, lol. It's one of his favorite hobbies but if you know where to "recycle" them or what to do with a growing hobby please let me know!
Our other kids stayed at the house this past weekend, and the dogs loved being together. It's helpful for Poppy to be around other dogs. I actually received a phone call this week from the rescue where we got both Sam and Poppy. They wanted us to take a 7 mo. old Tibetan Terrier male puppy but we told them we needed to wait a few months. It's been an emotional roller coaster that we need to work through.
Links And Products I Am Loving
- 30 minutes Pilates that you can do at home? I'm in! Especially after all the food these past couple of weeks.
- I use an olive oil dispenser, similar to this one, every day in my kitchen. I picked mine up from Italy but I do love the shape of this one and it's in my cart.
- My son keeps asking me about easy to grow plants. I own a snake plant that was handed down to me from my Mother-in-law. This article talks about the snake plant being the plant of the year!
- The worst food dining trends??? I have tried most of these but I do have say that I love raw milk! It works for me since I am lactose intolerant.
- We are finally into hygge season! I love feeling cozy and comfy. How about you?
- Let's talk about books. I just finished reading Elizabeth Strout's new book Tell Me Everything. It was interesting and it was a Pulitzer Prize winner. Here are the best books from winter 2024.
