We are back in Hawaii!
What's Happening
Hubby and I flew to Hawaii on Tuesday, and the weather has been perfect. One thing we really love about being out here is that it is 70-80 degrees every day. It's mostly sunny with a few errant clouds or 15 minutes of rain. After being in the bitter cold and snow of Chicago, this is a welcome relief for a few weeks.
One of our kids and his wife flew in on Friday. Their original flight was canceled, and they spent hours trying to figure it all out. They ended up having to fly to a different island, take an inter-island flight to Honolulu, and then board another flight to get to us. We let them sleep in and relax all day yesterday.
We haven't been doing much since we got here. We did walk on our favorite path for a couple of miles and then go to our favorite secluded beach one morning. The rest of our time has been spent walking miles every morning and getting ready for the kids to come.
We ate at the best sushi restaurant one night! They fly in fresh fish from Japan daily and then age it, much like steak restaurants age beef. It's incredible! We will definitely go back again before we leave.

This week I'm sharing a new recipe along with some of our family's favorites!
Links And Products I Am Loving
- I never knew you shouldn't store pears and avocados together! I did know about the apples, though.
- I love using Redmond Salt. It is the salt of choice in my home because of the high mineral content and the taste. This salt adds a lot to how food tastes in the end. Use this code for a discount on their salt.
- I am a lover of high-quality olive oil. I don't buy olive oil in a store, but instead I have a few producers like Laconiko that I know are perfect for Mediterranean cooking. This article shares how to store olive oil. It's important to preserve the vitamins and taste!
- I used to run a cookbook club (pre-covid) but this soup group idea is really inviting and something I may try locally!
- I needed a new swimsuit coverup for this trip! I bought this one after buying this one just for the color, lol but it was too long for a "shorty" like me!
- I am highly allergic to products that I put on my skin. I ended up buying and really liking this one from Blue Lizard. It has become one of my new staples.
