Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate! Everyone looks forward to Christmas break, family, and the fun of the season. Enjoy all of it and soak up every last thing that you can.
This is the last email of 2024. I will take some much-needed time to re-group, plan, and just enjoy the family. My wish is that you do the same.
I am super grateful that you are part of my email family and that you tune in to this email to see a small part of my world. I am always open for suggestions, your creativity, and thoughts. Feel free to respond or reply to this email and I will respond when I can.
What's Happening
Our youngest has landed back in America. He's currently in NYC with his brother and sister-in-law. He will be back in Chicago this afternoon and we cannot wait to get our arms around him!
We call him our "Where's Waldo" because he travels around the globe. Last week he was tired of Germany so he found a cheap Air BNB in Turkey and left for four days. My younger self would have loved this freedom.
We went out to dinner 5 out of 7 nights this week. Yay and Ugh.... Our friends wanted to get together and we wanted to finally celebrate our anniversary and hubby's birthday. We went to two Michelin starred restaurants downtown and the rest were local in the suburbs. One of the restaurants downtown was celebrating the famed chef Charlie Trotter. We had been to his restaurant years ago and it was amazing. He was the first chef to introduce molecular gastronomy. The chef at this restaurant worked and apprenticed under Trotter. There is a Netflix documentary about it that is wonderful!
Construction is done. Can we get a big "Yessiree" from everyone? I still have a tiny bit of tiling to get done but theoretically all of it will wait until 2025. We still need to do the window treatments but we are again waiting. It's been a ton of work, emotional energy, and we are tired.
For those that have asked about our other dog and how she is handling missing Sam, her big brother, she is doing okay. She is quiet but we see glimpses of her spunkiness now and then. We are all still grieving. It doesn't help that we keep getting cards and other things from vets, etc. We received a card and gift from the Tibetan Terrier Rescue org this week and it set me off on a crying jag. It was sooo sweet. We love that we rescue and give these dogs a home. It's not an easy task but the dogs get a furever home where they are spoiled rotten.
Links And Products I Am Loving
- I bought this wrapping paper holder to replace what I had. I LOVE it. It is space saving and fits easily into our closet.
- I also bought this game for our kids who love to play games when we get together.
- I have been seeing this viral warming mat for food all over social media. Does anyone own it and how do you like it?
- This time of year I need to eat to survive, lol. This article about foods to beat fatigue was interesting.
- And since we are talking about eating well during the holidays, how about making your your gut health stays strong?
- This smart watch for young kids is hilarious and really cute. I wish my great nieces were a bit older so I could buy one for them!
- I know I spoke about Beautycounter before, but they have a 50% off sale right now. The website will be shut back down after the new year in order to get ready for a "re-launch" sometime next year. This is your last chance to snag wonderful skincare that is non-toxic.
