It's fall around us. The leaves are turning and they are gorgeous.
The two hurricanes, Helene and Milton, are just horrific. I know so many of you are suffering and our thoughts and prayers go out to you.
My Mom lived in Sarasota for 15 years before she passed. Milton took a direct line into Sarasota and my heart is breaking.
Mom owned a home out on one of the barrier islands for 10 years. While we don't know anyone who lives out on that island anymore, she still has friends who are alive and had to go through this past weeks hurricane. Thankfully, everyone is safe and well.
What's Happening
Whelp....it's been a week and I am really not sure where it went.
I know I spent two days finishing up picking out the last things we need for the bedroom, like carpeting and more countertops, but the rest is a blur.
The house is coming along. They are working on electrical and plumbing and will start drywalling next week.
Our kids flew in on Thursday night and will be with us through this weekend. My daughter-in-law leaves tomorrow and my son will stay through the week. We are super excited to have them.
On Friday night our other son joined us for dinner and I made my barbecued brisket along with the Smashed Fingerling Potatoes and Arugula And Beet Salad With Goat Cheese.
On Saturday we hosted, yes we had them even through construction, my husband's family for dinner. Along with my Overnight Brioche French Toast Casserole, I also made my Baked Spinach, Cheese, and Egg Casserole, and the Blintz Casserole. These were served alongside a dish my niece made that had eggplant and mushrooms and lots of desserts, lox, and bagels. It was a nice spread.
The dogs are at daycare every day and they are super exhausted at night. Poppy was watching me but sleeping with her paws over her eyes. It was super cute.
Links And Products I Am Loving
- What to bring to a dinner party! I tend to either bring wine or flowers so this list is really nice.
- IYKYK - I never knew about this brown stem apple thing. Did you?
- I knew that restaurants changed their menus for the seasons but didn't know that they changed them based on climate change.
- This sweatshirt was a "hit" during these last prime days. I may have to buy one so I can see what all the fuss is about!
- As you know, I am obsessed with anything chocolate. I was in the chocolate world for 10 years and I know good chocolate when I eat it. This article about the benefits of cacoa showcase one reason why I love this plant.
