Today is Mother’s Day, as seemingly everyone has reminded us for the past few weeks, lol. I’ve been a mom for thirty-one years and, truth be told, I’m still thinking about what that means and asking myself how I can be the kind of parent I want to be as my kids are now getting married and having kids of their own. .
I’m also working on asking myself what I need to feel rested, appreciated and well-rounded. The marketing out there will tell you that means spa days, breakfast in bed, jewelry and chocolate — not that I would turn any of that down! But to me, self-care is also about making my everyday life easier when I can, and asking for help when I need it.
With Mother’s Day here today, I’ve whipped up a few Mother’s Day menu ideas guaranteed to make this special day even more memorable. Shower the moms (nurturers, moms-in-law, or amazing mother figures) in your life with love and appreciation.

What's happening in our home
We have been pretty quiet this week. I have been under the weather for these past two weeks so I have been quietly working away at my desk or recipe testing in the kitchen.
I just finished the book "The Lioness Of Boston" by Emily Franklin. This was our book club selection. I thought is was thought-provoking and brought about memories from my own childhood . Have you read it? What are you currently reading?
One of my kids has been off on an adventure in Kazakhstan. He's been traveling the country and having fun before heading to Bangladesh for work in a week. Yes, this is the child that lives in Berlin and we just call him "where's Waldo" and laugh.
The farmer's markets have started around us. We went yesterday to check out any new vendors. It's still early in the season here so there wasn't much available but I can't wait to start sharing seasonal recipes!
