Did you enjoy the 4th of July? Did you have some fun plans and see the fireworks?
What's Happening
We had a very low-key 4th of July. We stayed home with the dogs and didn't go anywhere.
Truthfully, we didn't know how our new dog would react to the fireworks. While we are not close to where the fireworks are being shot off, there are 4 villages nearby that have fireworks on both the 3rd and the 4th. The good news is that Walt didn't really react. Both dogs reacted more to fireworks being shot off at a local festival close to our house the week prior.
I have started planning the remodel for "phase two" of our home. It isn't as much as last time (which involved a gutting of the primary bedroom and two other bathrooms) but it involves my office, the rest of the bedrooms, the dining room, and the stairwell to the basement. I am hoping that the interruption later this summer won't be horrible.
We were hoping to see the kids this week but everyone had other plans or changed their plans, sigh. Hubby and I stayed close to home, went to the farmer's market as usual, and just relaxed. Sometimes that is just the best thing given how hot it has been here.

Links And Products I Am Loving
- Did you know that there are at least 10 different types of vinegar and that are all used differently?
- Things to do in July.
- A list of the best beach reads. I wish I was on the beach about now, lol!
- Our weather has been super hot so when this list of new Netflix shows came out I jumped at it.
- Speaking of heat waves, here is a list of which appliances to avoid in a heat wave. Phew.
- Here is another list of low key summer things to do along with free things to do.
Amazon Prime Favorites
Amazon Prime Week starts this week and I have a list of a few things I am either looking for or love and I am sharing with you:
- While recipe testing this weekend, I was reminded how much I love this Brown Sugar Saver! It has kept my months-old brown sugar soft and easy to use.
- I can't wait to see if this long-handled spoon from GIR is on sale! I am also looking at other variations as well.
- I use these Rubbermaid Brilliance containers on a daily basis. Look for the glass ones. They are better than the plastic ones.
- My toaster oven finally bit the dust a few weeks ago and I am waiting to see if this one goes on sale.
- I have been on the hunt for new ceramic pans to replace my non-stick pans. I have been between these Caraway pans or Green Pan Valencia. I have also heard good things about Our Place. Do you use any of these?
- I have been using Equip Protein powder for years. It's a clean grass-fed beef protein that I like instead of a whey or pea protein powder. I am trying to stay away from dairy and eat more protein as I age.
- Taco vs Burrito is a wildly popular game. I'm looking for this one as a gift!
- Can we talk socks? I love the brand Balega. While they are billed as running socks, these are my everyday brand. I can't wait to see if they are on sale!
Recipes
I have two new recipes for you this week. Dubai chocolate is everywhere so why not stuffed chocolate chip cookies with a crunchy pistachio filling? The broiled zucchini recipe is a staple that I am sharing with you!
I have also updated a few recipes and I'm sharing them with you as well!
