Good morning! Thanksgiving is on the mind for all of us. I think we are about two weeks away????
If you are looking for a good guide on How To Thaw A Turkey I have you covered. My emails during the week have recipes that I have used and love for our Thanksgiving meal; however, I do have to admit that I never put a turkey recipe on the site.
I also do not have a couple of other recipes, like my stuffing recipe which is a family "OMG" favorite. I will actually write down the recipe this year and get it going for you!
What I will tell you is that I am a huge proponent of brining my turkey. I have always used the Williams Sonoma brines and brining bags. They make the turkey taste divine. I then use an oldy but fabulous recipe from Bon Apetit (probably circa 1980's) for an herb turkey with a mushroom gravy.
I used to buy a local turkey that wasn't a "large production" bird. The farm went out of business last year which was really depressing. This year I ordered a bird from Joe's farm in Michigan. They use regenerative farming methods, no antibiotics, and the birds roam free. I'm hoping it tastes as good as it sounds!
I also do not make the pies. I find that I am exhausted with everything else so I buy pies. I will tell you that The Little Pie Company has the best pies I have tried. They always get rave reviews from my peeps and all I have to do is whip the cream!
If you want any of these recipes for Thanksgiving, just reach out and I will try my best to get it to you!
What's Happening
Life has been stressful this week. I came back from being out east losing all of Monday due to travel, which of course pushed everything else back. I will say though that spending the weekend with family was the best cure to everything.
There is nothing like family. I'm sure you will agree. While only one of my first cousins was there, I spent a lot of time getting to know second cousins that I rarely see.
We finally went out to dinner to celebrate hubby's birthday. We went with friends and also celebrated our friend's birthday.
The house construction is ongoing but as of yesterday we have a fully tiled bathroom, cabinets, and a bathtub in place. We are still looking at getting everything done by mid-December when the wood floor will be put in. We should have the powder room and most of our bedroom done before Thanksgiving but the closet and floors will be late.
I'm really tired of hearing pounding, hammering, saws, and all of the "stuff" that goes along with construction. I'm writing this email with headphones on and singing at the top of my lungs to block out everything! (IYKYK)
Sam, our oldest dog, is really aging fast. He's still not 100%. I think he is really tired of being out of the house 6 days a week and is ready to sleep all day again. I'm trying hard to put some weight on both dogs as daycare has them too lean from all the play and roaming.

Recipes
While I will have more recipes for Thanksgiving during the coming weeks, here are a couple for you to start thinking about.
There are a couple of canned creamed corn products in the grocery store, I still prefer to make my own. It's super simple and really delicious any time of year. I use this recipe iin my corn casserole recipe (coming soon) and for this cornbread recipe if I want to add moisture.
This Cranberry bread is my absolute favorite!
