We are transitioning from Colombia to Panama this weekend!
What's Happening
This past week has been a whirlwind and has opened our eyes to a different way of life and culture!
We spent a few days in Cartagena before boarding a riverboat and floating down the Magdalena River.
We have visited many towns and villages, had many cultural events like dancing, singing, drumming, learning to make filigree jewelry, and riding local taxis (think Tuk Tuk's and bicycles). We had a birding adventure where we took a boat into a river canal and a swamp area. We saw monkeys, iguanas, birds, and even a caiman (crocodile)!
The Colombian people have been super sweet and friendly. At times, though, we have felt we are on display as they haven't seen many foreigners. When we were in port, the locals would come out and stare at our boat, hoping to catch a glimpse of us. They are genuinely interested in who we are and want to show us their life and towns. It has been an amazing experience.
The history of the towns has been rich and interesting. Our guides are very informative and love showing us these towns, including some that they were born in or currently live in. We loved meeting the people!
The boat was lovely and we met some very nice people from Texas, Arizona, and more. It's nice to laugh and share experiences with others. There aren't many people on the boat, but we enjoyed our time meeting them.

Links And Products I Am Loving
- I am a huge fan of Dubai chocolate; however, who would have thought that there would have been a pistachio shortage as a result???
- I am really wishing I had this laptop riser or laptop pad while on this trip! It's been hard finding a good place to write!
- I love my Kitchenaid. It was interesting to read this article talking about rating the mixers. I guess my large capacity isn't as good as it once was, lol. I love the new colors of the Kitchenaid brand though.
- When was the last time you checked your pantry for expired items?
- Since I am on vacation, how about a list of the best fanny packs?
- I may have to get on the Stanley train just to have a water bottle with this color!
