Spanish Chocolate Krispy Treats (Turrón de Chocolate)
These Chocolate Krispy Treats are inspired by Spanish turrón de chocolate and made with high-quality milk and dark chocolate. A simple no-bake treat with crisp rice cereal, rich chocolate flavor, and a smooth, sliceable texture.
LIne an 8" square baking pan with parchment paper.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk chocolate and the dark chocolate. Using 20 second intervals, microwave the chocolate stirring in between until the chocolate is melted.
7 ounces milk chocolate, 5 ounces dark chocolate
Add the butter and the vanilla. Mix well until combined.
Mix in the Rice Krispies and the salt until the krispies are well coated.
1 ½ cups Rice Krispies, ¼ teaspoon sea salt
Transfer to the pan and spread evenly being careful to not pack the mixture down.
Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Cut into pieces.
Notes
Let the turrón rest until fully set before slicing. It slices more cleanly after several hours or overnight.Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerate for up to two weeks. For longer storage, wrap tightly and freeze for up to two months. For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free crisped rice cereal and verify that your chocolate is gluten-free.Press the mixture lightly into the pan. Packing it down too firmly can make the turrón hard to cut once it sets.
